Well, here we are—back to reality and missing that great weather we left behind in North Myrtle Beach, SC. We had some glorious days: not one day of rain and only two days of oppressive humidity. I must admit, I took this vacation as a true vacation. Our farthest travels from the resort were to Margaritaville—the only place I was willing to go—because you can’t be this close to one and not go.
Does that mean there is nothing to do in this area? Absolutely not. There are more attractions than I can list for you to check out. Us not visiting them just means you won’t get our review on them, but there are plenty of places to explore if you want a more active North Myrtle Beach vacation.
Because we chose to spend pretty much all our time at the resort, let me break it down for you—what the vibe was, what you get, and what to expect. Keep in mind we went in September, and it is considered off-season, which means the pricing is reasonable if you have the chance to take advantage of that time of year. We paid about $2,400 for a seven-night stay for 5 adults. If you’re looking at booking now for next summer, I priced it at about $3,500 for 5 adults for seven days in July (there could be bargains or better deals, and prices change—this was just a quick look for comparison).
So, what does that investment get you? Most of the units have the same layout with varying décor, but every unit—from one-bedroom to three-bedroom—has a balcony with ocean views. Our unit also had a washer/dryer, and I highly recommend confirming that when you book, because not all units have them.
The same goes for the kitchen: the smaller the unit, the smaller the kitchen. Most kitchens have the essentials, and if you need something there are plenty of affordable places nearby to pick up what you need—from groceries to beach supplies.
There are 3 towers with 16 floors on each. Here is the property breakdown map: https://vmbimages.s3.amazonaws.com/Landing+Pages/Beach+Cove/BCV+Resort+Map.pdf?_ga-ft=arkn5g.AA.AA.AA.AA.3eeLWEVQQlCXWIWroLDoWg..2.BCHCR. But don’t be fooled—you can use any of the 4 pools (one is indoors), the lazy river, or any of the 4 hot tubs (one is indoors) no matter which tower you stay in. They’re just named so you know which is closest to your building.
Did I visit all of them? Absolutely! However, I did not enter any of the indoor options because every day was too nice to be indoors.
Prefer the beach? This location is perfect for easy beach access. From the resort, there are multiple access points to make your way to the sand and surf. There is beach chair setup available for a cost that you can order for either the week or for the days you know for sure you’ll be out there. We drove, so we brought our own chairs.
There’s also an equipment library where you might find a chair or other items left by previous guests, but don’t count on the box. We saw a chair the day before we were leaving, plus multiple pool noodles and children’s sand toys to borrow. I love this concept and don’t remember the box on our previous stays, but it makes it easy to buy something for the week and not have to pack it up to take home.
Speaking of the equipment library box—its location is under the resort, almost directly under the resort’s lobby. Also located under the resort are some game areas that include shuffleboard, a giant Connect Four, outdoor Jenga, and of course table tennis. Bad weather can’t stop you from finding something fun to do! Indoors, you’ll also find an arcade and a restaurant.
Whether you choose to be by the ocean enjoying the salty air and warm waves, or relaxing with a book by the pools, maybe soaking your stress away in the hot tubs, or floating down the lazy river—there’s truly something for every kind of vacation mood. Don’t forget you can also grab a cocktail from the outdoor bar while playing your favorite game in one of the many seating areas.
I guess I’m making the case for why we didn’t feel the need to travel anywhere else—and why it’s so easy to sit back, take in the view, and enjoy everything Beach Cove Resort has to offer on site.
