If you love the great outdoors, camping, and exploring national parks, then Bass Harbor Campground is a must-visit destination. Nestled on Mt. Desert Island, this camper's paradise offers the perfect balance of accessibility and tranquility, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the camping experience.
The campground caters to every type of camper with options for tent and RV sites, or you can opt for a yurt or small cabin rental. While the yurts and cabins don't include restrooms, clean facilities are just a short walk away. Remember to bring your own linens if you choose a yurt or cabin—don't forget your pillow!
This marks at least our fourth visit to this charming location, and it remains as delightful as ever. We've stayed in one of their cabins, which comfortably sleeps eight. While it's not a luxury cabin, it serves well for sleeping, featuring a back room with two bunk beds and a front room with a queen bed and another twin bunk. Although there isn't a living area, you'll find a microwave, dorm fridge, and coffee pot inside. Outside, enjoy a grill, fire pit, and picnic table—essentials for a perfect camping getaway. With a variety of cabins and yurts available, it's an ideal spot for family reunions or group vacations.
The campground also boasts a pool and a small store for essentials like ice and firewood. If you run out, there are plenty of local vendors nearby, and stores are within a reasonable distance for any forgotten items or last-minute cravings.
One of the best features of Bass Harbor Campground is its proximity to Acadia's attractions and the charming town of Bar Harbor. Whether you're an avid hiker or prefer exploring quaint towns, there's something for everyone. Don't miss the Acadia Park Ride Along GPS-guided tour for exclusive insights and must-see spots. And while you're here, take a stroll to the Bass Harbor Light Station for a breathtaking sunset view.
Overall, this is an affordable getaway with excellent amenities in a prime location. Our most recent trip this fall had a minor hiccup, but the staff's exceptional customer service quickly resolved it. In a world where great service is hard to find, Bass Harbor Campground stands out. Please note that they do not accept third party reservations, so be sure to call or reserve online directly to secure your spot.
